Thirsty? If you call Denver, CO home, you and your pup are in luck. Because when you want to head out and wet your whistle, you don’t necessarily need to leave your dog behind.
Denver, like many other cities across the US, is home to an abundance of dog-friendly bars, pubs, breweries, and watering holes. Visit one of these vibrant venues and you can sip and snack with your dog right by your side.
If you’re searching for the best dog-friendly bars in Denver, here are 5 that are well worth checking out.
If you’re going dog-friendly bar hopping in Denver, there’s no better place to start than The Watering Bowl. Dogs are more than welcome at this popular establishment, which promotes itself as being home to “Denver’s best patio”.
Unleashed dogs are welcome on this 7,000-square-foot patio, so your pup will love the chance to get out and socialize with you. "Hooman" guests can tuck into tacos and sip on a Labrador Lager or a Great Dane IPA, while your pup will love the opportunity to tuck into some homemade bacon or veggie Rescue Bites.
Best of all, a portion of the proceeds from Rescue Brews and Rescue Bites sold at The Watering Bowl go to support dog rescue organizations, so you and your dog can have a good time for a very good cause.
With craft beer and quality pub grub on offer, there are already plenty of reasons to visit Recess Beer Garden on 17th Street. Even better, dogs are allowed to join their people at the outdoor tables and soak up the ambiance of this beautiful beer garden.
While there, you can tuck into the house-smoked chicken wings or build your own mac & cheese. But the best time to check it all out is during happy hour, which runs from 2 PM to 6 PM Monday to Thursday and is sure to put a smile on your face.
It’s worth noting that dogs aren’t allowed on the patio during specific hours, such as Friday and Saturday afternoons and evenings in summer, so call ahead to make sure you can bring your dog.
Next on our list of the best dog-friendly bars in Denver is the Denver Beer Company. While this boutique brewing company has several locations around the city, it’s hard to go past the Platte Street Taproom when looking to enjoy yappy hour with your pup.
Step onto the sunny patio here and you’ll find a welcoming atmosphere, German-style beer garden tables, and delicious craft beer on tap. Oh, and did we mention that dogs are permitted too?
There are water bowls to help your dog stay hydrated and misters so they can stay cool in the summer heat. You can even treat your furry friend to a dog “beerscuit”, which is apparently made from spent grain used to brew the company’s beautiful beverages. Now that sounds like something that should get their tail wagging!
You’ll need to head a little further afield to sample our next Denver dog-friendly bar — it’s roughly 20 miles north of downtown Denver in Lafayette — but the trek there will be well worth it. The focus at this “pawsome” venue is completely on laid-back, pet-friendly fun, and you and your pup are sure to enjoy plenty of that.
Romero’s is situated smack-bang in the middle of Old Town Lafayette and offers a few separate areas for socializing. The indoor bar is for humans only, while pups are allowed in the temperature-controlled enclosed pavilion.
But it’s the outdoor biergarten where your pup can really let their hair down — well-behaved, off-leash dogs are welcome here on the proviso that they’re registered with Romero’s in advance, and if you’re happy to pay a day pass fee.
There’s even a resident gourmet grilled cheese food truck out the back known as “The Waggin’”, plus a wide selection of beers on tap, in cans, and in bottles.
In short, if you love beer almost as much as you love your dog, you’ll feel right at home here.
Last but not least on our list of the best dog-friendly bars in Denver is Forest Room 5. This unique venue offers something a little different than your average bar experience.
While the interior is intimate and cozy, it's on the dog-friendly outdoor patio where this trendy bar really earns its stripes. The setting here makes you feel like you're camping out in the middle of nowhere — check out some of the photos of it online to see what we mean.
Your pup will love soaking up these gorgeous surroundings with you, and pups are always made to feel more than welcome. So if you want to feel like you're camping with your dog in the wilderness, be sure to pay Forest Room 5 a visit.
The 5 bars listed here are just a small selection of the myriad dog-friendly pubs, bars, and eateries in the Denver area. So why not head out to sample what they have to offer? Then, let us know where you and your fur-baby had the best time!
