Adams Morgan is a well-known neighborhood located in central Washington, D.C. It is a mile and a half north of the downtown area and the National Mall. Adams Morgan is well-known for being a bar district in our nation's capitol. There are plenty of local bars and clubs in the area, particularly along 18th Street. Beyond bars, Adams Morgan also has plenty of local restaurants, a recreation center, hotels, the Embassy of Cuba, grocery stores, and the infamous hotel where the attempted assassination of President Ronald Reagan occurred. Residentially, Adams Morgan has several condominium complexes, townhomes, and a handful of standalone, single-family homes.

Beyond its thriving nightlife, Washington, D.C. is home to a plethora of history, art, and science museums, national monuments and memorials, a large urban greenway with access to water recreation, a thriving performing arts center, and the three branches of government. Overall, D.C. is a very pet-friendly city with plenty of well-maintained sidewalks and public parks.

Adams Morgan is pretty centrally located in Washington, D.C., therefore, it is largely a traditional, urban environment, with no natural terrain left. Even with a local greenway, Adams Morgan is the epitome of a urban neighborhood. However, along with that comes plenty of well-maintained sidewalks for you and your pup to use while out walking everyday! 

Additionally, this neighborhood can be quite hilly, particularly as you near the southern boundary of Florida Avenue. You and your pup can easily avoid steep hills, but do your research on a walking route before heading out the door!

The borders of Adams Morgan include Calvert Street and Columbia Road to the north, 16th Street to the east, Florida Avenue to the south, and Connecticut Avenue and Belmont Road to the west.  Columbia Road and 18th Street are likely the busiest and most trafficked roads of Adams Morgan, particularly towards the norther boundary of the neighborhood.

Even for the size of Adams Morgan, there are four greenways located in the neighborhood's borders. The largest public park, which is located centrally in the neighborhood, is Kalorama Park. This three-acre park has a community garden, a playground, and a few places to sit and rest. 

The second largest public park in Adams Morgan is the greenways and athletic fields associated with the Marie H. Reed Recreation Center. Other greenways include Unity Park and Major General George B. McClellan Park. Both of these smaller greenways are located in triangular intersections. Other nearby greenways include Meridian Hill Park, Walter Pierce Park, Rabaut Park, Girard Street Park, Euclid Street Community Garden, and Mitchell Park. 

Thankfully, less than a mile to the south, you will find the South Street Dog Park! This fenced-in area is made of artificial turf, has benches for you to rest on, and provides an opportunity for your pup to socialize with other local dogs.
