Give a Wag! Gives to Santa Barbara Shelters

The Santa Barbara Humane Society began its work in 1949, providing education on humane care and treatment of animals in elementary schools and to the general public. The organization expanded their efforts in 1963 when they acquired the facilities to do so and have since been working diligently to protect the animals of Santa Barbara County and teach responsible pet ownership. The organization is determined to have a positive impact on the local community, offering low-cost health clinics, humane education programs for children, emergency response, rescued animal adoptions, and continuous support in caring for animals. Similarly, they aim to give all of the dogs in their care a happy, healthy life, providing dog playgroups and a fostering program to place the animals in caring homes. The Santa Barbara Humane Society continues to be dedicated to the welfare of animals and endeavors to act as a safe haven for homeless dogs and cats until they are found forever homes.

Santa Barbara DAWG, or Dog Adoption and Welfare Group, strives to provide a loving and safe environment for homeless, rescued, or surrendered dogs awaiting permanent adoption into loving homes. In operation since 1991, DAWG's work is centered around reducing the rate of euthanasia in area shelters by providing training and medical care to give dogs a second chance at life. DAWG wants all the dogs that come through their doors to reach a fulfilling life. They do this by maximizing their quality of life at the shelter, placing dogs into compassionate foster homes, and adopting out healthy, well-behaved dogs into the community. Having saved more than 8,000 dogs to date, DAWG continues to devote their efforts to taking in canines in need and giving them happy, healthy lives and a loving future.
