I am a responsible, trustworthy person with a wealth of experience with dogs. Along with caring for my own, I've walked, pet sat, boarded and fostered dogs for family members, friends and associates throughout my life. My early experiences working at a pet shop and as a veterinarian's assistant provided a foundation of dog care knowledge that I've continued to build on ever since. After a lengthy career in the Information Technology sector I opted to retire early and pursue rewarding part-time work. As a Fairfield resident for over 20 years, I'm committed to providing local Wag clients with the best dog walking service possible.

“Dog Tested, Owner Approved”
As a child, I was firmly a cat person and thought dogs were terrifying - but then we got one! Marla helped show me that the line between cat and dog lovers is meant to be blurred. While cats are still the only animal I have tattooed on my skin, the many dogs I've taken care of will always have a special place in my heart. But don't worry, there's still plenty of room left for your furry buddy too!

The Animal Welfare Society out of New Milford, Connecticut is on a mission: to save as many unwanted, abandoned, neglected, injured, special needs, aging, "perfect but owner turned in because they don't have time for them" and abused animals in the Connecticut area, give them medical care if needed, lots of love, and a caring foster home with an amazing family.
Many animals that come to be in the care of the Animal Welfare Society have been hurt - if not physically, then emotionally. Being abandoned or neglected by someone is mentally traumatic for them; they simply don't have the capacity to understand it. The staff and volunteers at the Animal Welfare Society pledge to take as much time with each individual pet as is needed to ensure that the pet is calm, feeling secure and trusting of humans again. No healthy pet will ever be euthanized on their watch.
The Animal Welfare Society is hoping to break the cycle of unnecessary euthanasia by spaying and neutering all incoming pets prior to adoption, educating the public about the importance of spaying and neutering and offering low-cost alternatives to those in need.
Do you have questions about adopting? Contact the rescue; they are here to help you find the perfect pet for you and your family. The shelter is open Tuesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and is closed to the public on Sundays and Mondays.
Are you ready to open your heart and home to a loving, forever friend? Contact the shelter and they will guide you through the process of picking your new best friend. If you are unable to adopt right now, maybe consider volunteering some time to the AWS. There are so many jobs that need doing and the staff would truly appreciate the extra hand. You can even just come in and volunteer to cuddle an extra timid pup, clean, do some administrative work or walk the dogs. If you are lucky, you may even get an extra-super-duper face-lick and tail-wag combo from their furry, adoptable pets!
BOO! Did we scare you? Ok, that may not have been scary but we guarantee chills up your spine at this frighteningly good time! You and your whole family (even Fido on his non-retractable leash) are welcome to get your pants (or collar) scared off as you join in on an infamous ghost walk! Milford has a very scary haunted history - from Indian attacks over 400 years ago, the deadly curse made by Captain Kidd, and an accused witch buried in Milford Cemetery; come hear all about it and tour the areas said to be haunted - if you dare!
Don't you love fall and Halloween? Make sure to mark your calendar for this beloved fall festival in downtown Milford! Bring the whole family (yes, Fido you can come too as long as you promise to keep your leash on and have your person pick up after you) and have a great day of fall fun together! The festival will kick off with the annual trick or treat 5K and will be followed by scary stories, costume contests, a parade and then trick or treating! How fun!
Are you, indeed, a Yankee Doodle Dandy? Is your dog a patriotic pawson? You and the whole family need to come downtown to celebrate this wonderful holiday to properly thank the men and women who have sacrificed so much in order for us to live free and feel safe as proud Americans! The event will begin with a star-spangled Memorial Day parade, so get downtown early to claim your spot along the parade route. Make sure Fido stays on his non-retractable leash and stays out of the street/parade route for everyone's safety, including Fido's. Mark your calendar and show your American Pride!
Fido wants to take a walk, but not just anywhere - rumor has it he wants to head to Eisenhower Park, located at 725 North Street in Milford. You know you want to make him happy, so why not just give in and head to the park! Grab some water, some treats and most importantly, your leashed, furry friend and get your walk on! This park has it all - lots of trails, a dog pond as well as lots of family-friendly activities! What a great way to spend the day! Pack that picnic basket and let's go!
Bone Appetite, y'all! It's time to bring the family and your leashed doggo to dine at Café Atlantique located at 33 River Street in Milford! This charming coffee shop boasts yummy treats, a friendly staff and a patio just ready for your pooch to enjoy his very own fresh bowl of water while you chow down. Fido says not to worry - if you drop any food, he will be more than happy to clean up after you - such a good boy! What a great way to hang out together as a family!
