The largest, and most well-known rescue is the Siouxland Humane Society. This organization has a storied past - founded in 1889, the shelter completed its latest update to their facility in 1999. In addition to expanding their physical borders, they've also focused on ever-increasing their programs. This facility is an open admission and full-service shelter that cares for thousands of pets every year! Their mission is to find fur-ever homes for 100 percent of the pets that come through their doors, but they also provide dozens of services like adoption, surrender, spay and neuter assistance, humane education, and veterinary care.
Another well-known organization in the area is Noah's Hope Animal Rescue. Though a fairly new rescue - it only started rescuing in 2007 and then became a registered non-profit in 2010 - this organization has saved hundreds of pups since their inception. With a special focus on the "underdog," they aim to help older, sick, and injured pups that have been abandoned, abused, or used-up by breeders. This organization nurses these pooches back to health, fosters them, and helps them find their fur-ever homes.
