Hi My name is Chris. I have been very lucky to grow up in a family that loves dogs. I currently own a pack of 3 ( 80 lb Goldendoodle, 20 lb Poodle mix, 40 lb German Shepard). My German Shepherd is a tripod ( only has 3 legs) and she is trained and certified for dog therapy. As a dog therapy team we visit senior homes, colleges/universities, and medical buildings. I have owned or worked with many different breeds ( Basset Hounds, Labradors, Bullmastiffs, Clumber Spaniel, English Bulldogs, Pit bulls, Airedales, Jack Russel Terriers, Poodles, Doberman Pinchers...) I enjoy walking dogs and training dogs. Thanks!

I have grown up surrounding dogs and they have always been my passion and my life. I have dog sat many dogs through out my life and I have two of my own dogs as well. I worked at a dog day care for two years and I have been walking dogs after that for 4+ years and continuing to love it more than anything. I am also hoping to work towards becoming a certified dog trainer! I can’t wait to meet your precious dog and give them all the love and attention they deserve

About Dog Training in Signal Hill, CA

Training Fun Fact #1:

Pit Bulls are loyal, affectionate, and gorgeous dogs with a whole lot of love to share with their people. But if your Pit Bull pup is always full of beans, you might need to find ways to calm your hyper puppy. Regular play, exercise, and mental stimulation can all help your pup burn off some mental and physical energy, while ignoring your pup when they get a little too frisky can also work wonders. You might be surprised just how quickly your precious pup turns into a calmer, content pooch.

Training Fun Fact #2:

Your garden is pristine, your lawn as pretty as a picture — and then your dog comes along and digs everything up, making a mess of all your hard work. Sound familiar? The good news is that you can train your dog to stop digging holes. You might like to distract your dog when they start digging, rewarding them with a treat, play, or praise for doing the right thing. Alternatively, you may decide to create a special digging pit for your furry friend, giving them an acceptable place to dig so that they’ll hopefully leave the rest of your garden alone.

Training Fun Fact #3:

Every dog loves play time, but when the fun and games come to an end your house looks like a hurricane has hit. To help make the cleanup easier, why not teach your dog how to pick up their toys? This usually requires time and patience, and you’ll need to start slowly to let your dog get the hang of it. Once they understand the “take it” and “drop it” commands, you can move on to teaching them to drop their toy in a basket or box. Over time, increase the number of toys your pup needs to pick up and pack away, remembering to give lots of treats or praise to reward any successes.

Average Cost of Dog Training in Signal Hill, CA

If you need some assistance training your dog, there’s certainly no shortage of dog trainers in Signal Hill, CA who can come to the rescue. Unfortunately, choosing the right person to help your dog isn’t easy. You not only need to find someone with the appropriate qualifications and experience, but also someone who knows how to communicate with you and your dog. And then there’s another all-important factor to consider: cost.

There are two main options for Signal Hill dog training — group lessons and private training sessions. If you opt for group training, you get the benefit of letting your dog interact with other pooches while learning some essential obedience tasks. It’s a great way for your dog (and you) to do some socializing, and it’s also cheaper than private training. As a general guide, group training classes range in price from roughly $150 to $350, and require you to commit to 4 to 6 weeks of lessons.

But group sessions aren’t a good fit for every dog. And if your dog has specific behavior problems that need fixing, you may decide to arrange a private training consultation for your pet. The advantage of this is that the trainer can focus their attention on your dog and how to help them, while you also get one-on-one advice and assistance.

But in-home training sessions don’t come cheap. It’s not uncommon to pay at least $100 an hour for private training, with many services charging between $125 and $150 per hour. You can access cheaper rates if you book a multi-lesson package, but you’re still looking at a significant investment.

If that sounds like too much, you’ll love booking an affordable dog trainer through us. Trainers with Wag! offer rates starting from just $60 per hour and will develop a customized training plan tailored to your pup’s needs. You also get the convenience of booking a session at a time and place that suits you — dog training doesn’t get much easier, or more cost-effective, than that!

Going Off-Leash in Signal Hill, CA

Off-leash dog parks are great places to work on your dog’s obedience training and socialization. Even better, they offer a whole lot of fun for dogs of all shapes and sizes.

If you call Signal Hill, CA, home, you’ll definitely want to visit Signal Hill Dog Park with your pup. Located on California Avenue, this .46-acre park is much loved among local pet parents. There are separate areas to offer safe play spaces for smaller and larger dogs, while dog water fountains and waste bags are also provided.

But if your dog is a beach baby, make sure you also take them to Rosie’s Dog Beach in the Belmont Shore neighborhood of Long Beach. It’s roughly 15 minutes’ drive away but the trip is well worth it as your dog will be able to frolic on the sand and in the surf. It’s a very popular spot with local dog lovers but please be warned that the area is not fenced.

With this in mind, it’s important that your dog is reliably trained to come when called, even with distractions. You’ll also need to make sure your pup knows how to not play aggressively and has a good grasp of the right way to behave at the dog park. If you can trust your dog to play nice, your next trip to the dog park will be much more fun for both of you.
