Kewannee Trail or Shoshonee Trail is one of the main roads running southwest from Semoran Boulevard south through town to Tuscarora Trail. Along both sides of this critical road are residential neighborhoods full of single-family homes in comfortable enclaves. As you travel from Semoran Boulevard south, your journey will take you past the Lake Jessup Stormwater Project and the Kewannee Park.
Living here puts you within a few minutes' drive of a Walmart Supercenter and, all up and down Semoran Boulevard, you will find a wide range of stores, including a Pet Bazaar where you can pick up everything you should need for your pup. This road is also home to several very popular places to take your family out for a meal. At the intersection of Semoran and US 17-92, there are shopping centers on two corners where you should be able to find just about anything your family, including the furry member, is likely to need.
Most of the neighborhoods along the trail have plenty of sidewalks for the two of you to use when going out for your daily walks together. There are even sidewalks along Kewannee Trail-Shoshonee Trail you can use to walk into the shopping areas or to the park. Keep in mind that the traffic along this road tends to be busy most of the day. A short walking leash is highly recommended to give your dog a sense of security if they are not used to the traffic and the noise it generates. It'll keep you safe as well!
The good news is that there are plenty of neighborhoods with sidewalks for you to explore if you don't need or want to walk on the main roadway in the area. Not only is there less traffic, but there is also plenty of shade to help keep the scorching Florida sun at bay.
In the center of this neighborhood is Kewannee Park covering a full six acres. Here, you and your family, with your pup in tow, will find a pavilion, playground, basketball courts, a large lake with a boardwalk, and a fishing pier. You will also find the trailhead for the Kewannee Trail running along the northern edge of the park. The trail measures 1.7 miles long and is 14 feet wide, offering you and your dog plenty of room to stretch your legs.
On the opposite side of Kewannee Trail-Shoshonee Trail sits the Lake Jessup Stormwater Project. There are several tributaries leading here and a vast area of grass surrounding the lake. The lake and area around it have, in recent years, undergone a massive cleanup effort, leaving behind a large open area where you and your dog can stretch your legs and enjoy some play time out in the fresh air and sunshine.
