The aptly named East Bank Condo sits on the east bank of the Halifax River on Seabreeze Blvd. and is only a ten-minute walk to the beach. Ocean Walk Village is nearby and is home to a selection of boutique shops, clubs, and great places to eat. For those who enjoy Bike Week, you can walk down to Main St. where all the action goes on every February. At the same time, you are just far enough away from it to avoid at least some of the noise and traffic.
Living this close to the beach gives you direct access to the beach itself and a great selection of nightclubs where you can dance the night away in the warm summer nights on open-air decks. During the summer months, the daytime temperatures are in the 90s and evenings on the beachside are in the 70s, perfect for a night of dancing under the stars.
The terrain here is pretty level and, in most areas, quite urban in that there are a lot of businesses along Seabreeze Blvd. and large parking areas. It can be hard to imagine living in an area where it might seem like there would be nowhere to take Fido out for walks. Such is not the case! You just have to be a little more creative. If you keep to a strict routine, both of you are going to quickly become bored with going for walks and start looking for excuses not to.
The only real option you have here is to use the sidewalks and city blocks. Just make sure you vary which blocks you walk around each time you go out. This will at least give your pup something different to sniff at each time you go out. Keeping your walks "fresh" will go a long way towards making them fun for both of you in this area.
Unfortunately, living here puts you in a bit of a spot when it comes to green spaces. The nearest thing to a park is the beach which is five blocks to the east.
The World's Most Famous Beach runs for 23 miles and offers you a choice of walking terrain. The first is the soft sand near the edge of the beach. This stuff can be murder to walk in, but at the same time, you and your pup will be getting a great workout. The other option is the wet sand by the water's edge. This stuff is much easier to walk in and offers the surf for you and your pup to walk in on the way home. This sand is more like walking on grass. While firm underfoot, your feet do tend to slip a little, giving you and your pup a slightly different workout while you are relaxing.
