Gardiner Court is more of a street than a court on the mainland side of Daytona Beach and located just across the street from the Halifax Harbor Marina. There are many advantages to living here ranging from having the marina and plenty of sidewalks to being just a few minutes from the beach.

For those who like to eat out, you can walk to the Chart House, one of the best fine-dining restaurants in town serving up an amazing menu of seafood and steak. You can catch a baseball game at the Jackie Robinson Memorial Stadium or play a round of golf at any one of several excellent golf courses in the area.

Summers here tend to be on the hot side with temperatures in the 90s and humidity running near 100% almost all summer long. You can still go walking on the beach in January with daytime temperatures in the 45 to 55-degree range.

The terrain along Gardiner Court is mostly urban in that there are more paved surfaces than grass. Part of this is due to the large marina parking lot at the east end of the street. Taking Fido for walks here can be challenging due to the amount of traffic going in and out of the marina. Thankfully, there are plenty of sidewalks for the two of you use for your walks.

By choosing different directions to walk each time, you can add a little variety to your strolls which will help make them at least a little more interesting. There is also a walking trail that goes all the way around to the tip of the marina and back in one giant loop. There is plenty of grass alongside the paved trail so while you walk on the hot pavement, Fido can walk on the grass which will be much more comfortable on their paws.

Beyond the trail running out to the Halifax Harbor Marina, there is another one on the other side of E Orange Ave. that runs all the way up to the Main St. Bridge, giving you and your pup plenty of room to stretch your legs.

How could you possibly live this close to the beach without putting it at the top of your list of favorite greenways? The World's Most Famous Beach runs for 23 miles and is a fantastic place to take Fido out for walks. The dry sands tend to be soft, sucking at your feet with every step. This type of walking works leg muscles and lungs hard, helping to build stamina and overall core body strength, even in your dog. When you are all done with slogging along in the sand, you can use the firm wet sand to walk back on and cool off with a little playtime in the surf.
