Boasting a modest 38 units, the Halifax Shores Condo sits next to the Seabreeze Bridge and is only a ten to fifteen-minute walk from Daytona Beach.
For those of you who like to eat out rather than spend half the evening in the kitchen, there are plenty of excellent restaurants nearby to choose from. These include the Starlite Diner, the Daytona Taproom, Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse, and many more. If clubbing is more your thing, you are only a few minutes from clubs like the Ocean Deck and Razzle's where you can dance the night away. At the Ocean Deck, the bar has a deck out on the beach for you to enjoy drinks under the stars.
Lucky for warm weather lovers, the average temperature in the evenings is in the 70s all summer long. Following days in the high 90s, this is a welcome relief, especially with cool breezes coming in off the ocean.
This area of the peninsula is heavily built up, but most of the streets have sidewalks for you and Fido to use for your daily walks. You can use them to walk around many of the different residential and commercial blocks. While this may not sound like fun, it is a good way to get in the exercise you both need.
Keep in mind that there are inherent risks for your pup that come with walking on paved surfaces. The rough surface of the pavement can wear away at the pads under their paws. Give them time to toughen up with short walks before you head out on major urban hikes.
If your feet can feel the heat of the pavement through your shoes, imagine how this must feel to your pup who has no protection. If you can't hold the back of your hand on the pavement for ten seconds, it is too hot for Fido to walk on safely.
The nearest green space is a ten to fifteen-minute walk to the east. Yes, this is the beach! While it may not be green in color, it is the perfect place for you and your pup to go for long walks. If you stick to the dry sand, it will try to trap your feet with every step you take. This makes for an exceptional workout! When you are ready to turn around head back home, you can walk back on the wet sand and in the surf. The wet sand is much easier and the water is perfect for cooling your feet off.
Remember to keep your dog on a leash along the coast. These areas are not always safe for dogs to roam free. In addition, carry plenty of doggy bags with you to clean up any messes. Keeping the beach safe and clean for other users is the key to being able to enjoy this space!
