Top dog walkers in Seabreeze Park
Wag! Walkers know Seabreeze Park
Seabreeze Park is a modest community of single-family homes and condos located between the Halifax River and the Atlantic Ocean. Most of the homes here are older beachside-style homes with moderate-sized yards. The area sits next door to the Ortona Elementary School, but keep in mind that pups aren't allowed on school grounds.
Living on Beachside means being within a short driving distance of several excellent restaurants, many of which serve seafood. There are pet supply stores and dog-friendly parks all within driving distance. Living here means having direct access to the beach, whether you want to surf the waves in the summer or spend Christmas on the sand. The weather here is ideal for both! Winters hover in the upper 40s to low 50s while summers range in the mid-to-upper-90s. With approximately 230 days of sunshine, you won't be using the weather as an excuse not to take your pup for a walk!
What is the terrain like in Seabreeze Park?
The terrain in Seabreeze Park is a flat suburban neighborhood typical of beachside living. The yards are topsoil over sand with grass planted. You can spot the homes with old-school water-to-air-air-conditioning. They are the ones with beautiful green lawns all summer long.
Making your walks count for something when the ground is flat can be challenging if you have an energetic younger dog who needs plenty of exercise. Luckily, you can start out on short walks to give your pooch a chance to get used to the exercise and then start working your way towards longer walks that will help both of you get rid of those extra pounds.
For the more experienced walker, there is the beach. Walking in the soft sand can be quite arduous and will definitely give your dog's muscles a good workout. Use the hard, wet sand for the return journey, giving everyone's muscles time to cool down and relax.
How many greenways are there in Seabreeze Park?
There are a few small parks within driving distance, but none of them are big enough to do more than run around a little. If you are looking for something a little more rugged with more space to roam, it's only a short drive to a couple of beautiful state parks.
First, there is the Tomoka State Park covering over 2,000 acres along the banks of the Tomoka River. There are trails to hike, places to camp, great fishing, boating and canoeing, and places to have a family picnic.
The other is Tiger Bay State Forest, approximately 20,000 acres of incredible forest and wetlands. There are man-made and natural ponds full of fish and miles of trails to hike along with your dog. While most of the trails are unpaved, you can stroll along the Pershing Highway Trail. The trail runs for approximately one mile and was built with brick in 1917.
