Smith Terrace is a tiny neighborhood over on beachside near the Ocean Deck Restaurant & Beach Club, one of the hottest dance clubs in town. With this, you should know you are just across the street and one block from the World's Most Famous Beach.
The Ocean Deck is not the only nightclub along the beach. There are several, each of which plays its own music and most have a deck out onto the beach as well as outside bars and music. Daytona also offers some of the finest seafood and steaks in the state, along with a host of outstanding restaurants serving exceptional international cuisine. For pet stores and dog parks, the mainland side is where you will find them.

What is the terrain like in SmiTerrace?
The terrain over on the beachside is flat, sandy, and relatively unexciting. You can take your pup from block to block on your walks but, if you are going to stick to the paved surfaces, you need to know two things.
One: the pavement is rough and will act like sandpaper on your dog's paws. Start out with a series of short walks to give them time to toughen up. Two: during the summer when the temperatures are in the 90s, the temperature of the pavement will be in excess of 135°F. Be sure you take your walks in the early morning hours, long before things have time to heat up in order to prevent burns and discomfort.
You can also take your dog out on the beach where the two of you can put the soft sand to good use strengthening your leg muscles with every step you take!
How many greenways are there in SmiTerrace?
If you count the beach as green space, then you have miles of green space to put to good use! But if sand is not your idea of greenery, then you will have to seek out other options.
The nearest is Tomoka State Park which is over on the mainland side and north on Beach Street. This park sits at the headwaters of the Tomoka River and continues to provide the same level of fishing as it did for the Timucuan Indians who built their village Nocoroco over 1,500 years ago. Today, the park straddles both sides of the river and is approximately 2,000 acres in size.
There is a one-half mile long nature trail for you to explore and a one-mile long walking trail you can hike along. According to the rangers, this park is home to over 160 different species of birds, herds of white-tail deer, black bear families, and many others who call it home.
