Wag! Walkers know Bayside (Bayside Historic Distric)
Bayside Historic District, or simply Bayside, is an older community with homes dating back to the 1900s and modern condominium buildings along the waterfront. The houses here are a beautiful eclectic mix of Art Deco, Dutch Colonial, Streamline Modern, and others. Most of the homes here sit on suburban-sized yards with plenty of shade trees. The two condominiums here are the Palm Bay Yacht and the Clipper on the Bay. Biscayne Blvd has pet supply shops within walking distance along with several great places to eat. The nearest dog-friendly park, Baywood Park, is on the east side of the area.
The climate here is spectacular, just as you might expect in Miami, with January daytime lows in the 60s and August daytime highs in the low 90s. While Miami does get an average of 59 inches of rain each year, the fact that it never snows here tends to negate the rain.
What is the terrain like in Bayside (Bayside Historic Distric)?
The terrain in the Bayside Historic District is a blend of large yards, plenty of shade trees in the central part of the neighborhood, and concrete and pavement around the condos. The land is flat, but there are sidewalks in some areas and not in others. Going for walks with your pup shouldn't be a problem, but flat ground can make for some pretty dull walks. Many who live here tend to go around the same block for every walk. It's no wonder so many dogs seem to become bored with their walks! Just like you, they need a change of scenery from time to time to keep things interesting. Try taking different routes each time the two of you go out and about! Not only will this give your pooch something new to sniff on a regular basis, but it can also give you a chance to get to know more of your neighbors.
How many greenways are there in Bayside (Bayside Historic Distric)?
Living in the Bayside Historic District for many means homes with large yards, but it also means a lot of concrete thanks to the two massive condominiums located on the waterway. Thankfully, you do have access to a couple of nice parks. The first is Baywood Park tucked away on the water in the northeast corner. Although this park might only measure 1.9 acres, it does sport 677 feet of bayfront with spectacular views. Your pup is always welcome to hang out in the shade, walk the trails, and play as long as they are on a leash.
The other is Legion Park on the southern edge of the community. This 37-acre park is not only very dog-friendly with areas for pups to play, but it is also home to a farmer's market where you can buy a fantastic variety of fresh locally grown fruits and veggies while the two of you are out for a walk.
