Top dog walkers in Magnolia Park
Wag! Walkers know Magnolia Park
Magnolia Park is located in the upper east side of Miami and is a blend of older single-family homes and apartment complexes. Platted initially back in 1916, a couple of the houses here are over 100 years old! The area has undergone several zoning changes and, as of 2016, neighbors were fighting yet another zoning change. On the west side of Biscayne Blvd., there are several places to grab a bite to eat along with a fabulous selection of stores to shop in. There are three parks to walk your dog in, all of which sit on the shore of the Intracoastal Waterway.
The climate here is delightful with January lows in the 60s and summer highs in the 90s. There are very few days that you can't take Ralph for a walk unless you pick a time when it is raining and, even then, you can still go walking as long as you take an umbrella!
What is the terrain like in Magnolia Park?
For a neighborhood that consists mainly of multi-family housing, there is a fair amount of grass for you and Ralph to wander around on. The ground here is quite flat with sidewalks to walk on if you prefer pavement. However, you must keep in mind that the pavement will get far too hot for Ralph's feet in the summer months as it can easily reach 145°F when the ambient temperature is only in the mid-to-upper 80s.
When you stop to think that you can fry an egg at 120°F, imagine how much damage pavement at 145°F can do to the delicate pads on the bottom of poor Ralph's paws! When the temperatures reach this point, be sure to keep Ralph on the grass between the buildings or take them over to one of the three parks along the waterway which can be a precious relief from the pavement and concrete.
How many greenways are there in Magnolia Park?
Those who live in Magnolia Park have the advantage of plenty of green space to walk their dogs in. Not only are there a couple of large undeveloped areas of grass, but there are two parks on the north side of I-19.
Albert Pallot Park offers 400 feet of waterfront access. There may not much in the way of facilities, but there is plenty of grass for you and Ralph to run around on. Just to the south is Stearns Park. This one is much harder to get to unless you are lucky enough to live off of NE 6th Ave. and NE 37th St. Then you don’t have to take your life and Ralph's in your hands trying to dash across the Julia Tuttle Causeway.
Finally, there is Martell Park, the only designated dog park on the water in Miami. However, there are no sources of fresh water here and no other amenities beyond a bench or two.
