Sunrise Harbor is a pleasant blend of condominiums on the water and large single-family homes. Many who live here came for the peace and quiet, others for the low crime rates. No matter why residents choose to live here, you will find that most homes have their own swimming pools and docks with an incredible variety of boats. There is an expansive selection of eateries to choose from and the heart of Miami is also within commuting distance. There are parks and pet supply stores within driving distance to keep Fido happy.
The weather here is definitely something to brag about. January temperatures stay in the 60s and snow is non-existent. Summers also offer the occasional thunderstorm along with temperatures ranging from the mid-80s all the way up the low 90s. With approximately 248 days of sunshine, both you and Fido can go walking just about any day you want to.
Beyond the large yards, most of the homes here enjoy the occasional empty lot and the bulk of the terrain here is mostly flat. Thankfully, there are sidewalks for you to walk on and grassy berms for Fido to help keep their paws from becoming burned in the summer months. There are plenty of blocks for the two of you to explore and add into your walks to help build up stamina and knock off those extra pounds.
The streets are lined with shade trees which will help provide a little bit of shade as you walk along them. If you want anything more challenging, it's going to take a bit of a drive as the only park in town is so small that it really doesn't have much to offer in the way of room to play, let alone room to run around and exercise on a regular basis for you and Fido.
The only greenway in Sunrise Harbor is Sunrise Harbor Park which is, in truth, more for the kids with a playground and a basketball court. There is a small amount of grass, but it's not enough to do more than allow Fido to romp around a little bit and only if they are a smaller breed.
If you are among those who have a boat docked at the edge of the waterway or the bay, you can easily cruise over to the Dinner Key Picnic Islands for a little fun in the sun. Chase each other around, walk around the island, or simply relax with a picnic and watch the water skiers and windsurfers doing their thing on the water. The terrain here is a little rough and ready, but there is plenty of shade. Just remember, if you pack it in, be sure you pack it out and that includes any little surprises Fido leaves behind.
