Top dog walkers in Sea Dunes
Wag! Walkers know Sea Dunes
Sea Dunes Condominiums sit on the beach south from historic Flagler Avenue. Along this main street, you can find several unique boutiques and shops, a few excellent restaurants, and a popular tavern or two. Here, you can also drop into the Publix supermarket and stock up on goodies for you and your dog.
The condominium complex itself has a lot to offer with swimming pools and access to the beach where you and your family can have picnics, play Frisbee with your dog, or go for long hikes along the water, looking for seashells along the way. The beach offers excellent surf and, at any given time during the day, the waters near the jetty are packed with local surfers.
The waters here during the hottest part of summer reach temperatures in the low 80s, but they feel lovely to cool off in after a long walk.
What is the terrain like in Sea Dunes?
Although you are ten minutes from the central part of town, the traffic here still tends to be very busy during rush hours and peak tourist seasons. With so many people from out of town, if you plan to walk along S Atlantic Avenue during the daytime, you'll want to pay very close attention to the traffic.
With so many sidewalks along S Atlantic, you would think there would be hordes of pedestrians all day long. But by the time the temperatures hit the mid-80s, most people stay inside in the air conditioning. No matter which direction you head along S Atlantic Avenue, you will find one condo after another for a long way in either direction.
If you choose to hike along the beach, which is a much better choice than the sidewalks, early morning hours are best. Not only is it still nice and cool outside, but you won't have to deal with as much traffic.
How many greenways are there in Sea Dunes?
The closest green space is the beach which runs north to the Ponce Inlet and then south for many miles. You might not think it, but the beach can be the perfect place to take your pooch for hikes in the morning. It offers soft sands that are strenuous to walk in and will give your legs a great workout. These walks will also help build up stamina for those really long hikes.
On the other side of the peninsula is the Mosquito Lagoon Aquatic Preserve. You can take canoe and boat tours of the waterways or, if your dog likes to ride in a boat, go by yourselves. There is so much to see here and lots of waterways to get lost in. Be sure you use your GPS to record your journey to keep yourself from getting lost. While you are out, you even have a good chance of seeing the pod of dolphins that live in these waters.
