Top dog walkers in Tymber Trace
Wag! Walkers know Tymber Trace
Tymber Trace is another of the many carefully planned communities next to the New Smyrna Beach Public Golf Course. It offers an excellent view of the marshes and Turnbull Creek, the estuary leading out to Turnbull Bay. Being out here near the western edge of the golf course means living in one of the more peaceful areas of the city. It also means having to drive if you want to eat out or buy more dog food for your pooch. Bear in mind that this typically means spending no more than ten to fifteen minutes in the car!
In addition to an easy commute, you and your pup can go walking out there on just about any day of the year with January daytime highs in the upper 60s with June through September in the upper 80s. You won't find too many days when the two of you can't get out and go for a walk.
What is the terrain like in Tymber Trace?
When it comes to the terrain here, you will find it to be quite flat and residential in nature. The streets have been carefully laid out to surround a waterway that leads out to the estuary. Like most of the surrounding neighborhoods, the one thing the planners seem to have left out is sidewalks for you and your pup to use for your daily walks. Instead, you are stuck walking on the streets, which means walking against the traffic and sharing the roads with vehicles.
Luckily, the area is fairly quiet throughout. There are a few larger main streets but none that seem to feed out into a highway or freeway, so you won't have to worry about strolling alongside cars that are going too fast. In addition, each road seems to dead end into a cul-de-sac or lead right back into itself in a loop, so the neighborhood is easy to navigate as you wander.
How many greenways are there in Tymber Trace?
To the west of the neighborhood are the marshes and tributaries that lead out into Turnbull Bay. To the north and east are two golf clubs, though dogs are not generally welcome in these commercial space.
However, just to the south are Otter Park North and Otter Park South where you and your pooch can take the trail around the lake or take a long walk on the New Smyrna Beach Pedestrian Trail.
If you don't mind taking a bit of a drive, you can also venture out to Smyrna Dunes Park. The park offers a large area of scrub zone and beach to play on or go for walks through to stretch your legs. This is one of the few county parks where Fido is welcome, as long as they are on a leash and you bring your own bags to clean up after them. There are no fenced-in areas to utilize, so be respectful to others when walking.
