Commonwealth Mobile Estates is a vast mobile home community spanning from South Nova Road to the south and Commonwealth Boulevard to the north. It also spans from Spruce Creek Road in the west over the FEC tracks and to Roberts Street. There are literally dozens of mobile homes in the community. Not only do the railroad tracks divide the community, so too does the Halifax Canal. The section to the east seems older and shows more wear and tear while the area on the west side of the tracks appears to be much newer and very well taken care of.
From the community, you have direct access to South Nova Road which goes north to Dunlawton Avenue. This is the only highway in town that runs from the I-95 interchange over the Halifax River and to the beach. However, this road is also the central shopping district in town! Along here are all the big box retail stores, supermarkets, and many of the best restaurants in town.
What is the terrain like in CommonwealMobile Estates?
Each side of the community tends to see a lot of rush hour and shift change traffic, along with school buses that round up the kids in the morning and turn them loose in the afternoons. In the western section, the streets are lined with sidewalks where you and your dog can walk safely, even during rush hours. However, over in the eastern half, there are no sidewalks. You should try to plan your walks either before rush hour starts or after the last school bus.
Even well-trained dogs can be startled by cars that get a little too close when passing by. If you have no choice but to walk during these times, be sure to use a short leash and keep your dog close. Doing so will help protect them and offer a sense of security. A short leash can also help you maintain better control in the presence of the endless stream of kids wanting to pet the doggy!

Living in either half of Commonwealth Mobile Estates puts you very close to the Margaret Buschman Parcel and Buschman Park. The two areas combine to create a large area of woods with nature trails running through them, a large lake with a walking path, and places in the shade where you and your family can have picnics.
Less than five minutes south on Spruce Creek Road is the Seemore Memorial Dog Park. This is a one-acre park with individual fenced areas for small breeds, large breeds, and special needs pups.
Then there is the beach! It's only fifteen minutes away at the east end of Dunlawton Avenue. You can drive right out onto the sand and park your car! Then the two of you can hike for as far as you can handle, keeping in mind you have to walk just as far back. There is no better way to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine!
