Wag! Walkers know Daytona Beach Manor
Daytona Beach Manor is a small private farm located on
Jackson Street. To the north, east, and south, there are vast residential communities. To the west is a shopping center
with a Publix Supermarket and a Pet Supermarket next door. You can walk to both
of them and buy food for everyone in your family, including the cute one with
the waggly tail.
In fact, immediately
to the west is Dunlawton Avenue, the main east-west route through town and home to
the largest selection of big box retailers, local stores, strip malls, shopping
centers, and just about any other kind of store you can imagine. It is also home
to the vast majority of restaurants in the area.
The nearest park is only a few blocks to the west or you can
take your dog to the local dog park. There are even wildlife management areas and the beach for you to enjoy
within driving distance.
What is the terrain like in Daytona Beach Manor?
Being this close to Dunlawton Avenue and so many residential
neighborhoods all in one area, traffic during the day and, especially during rush
hours, can be hectic. Unless your dog is used to heavy traffic and the noise it
generates, you should try to time your walks to avoid busier parts of the day. There are plenty of sidewalks for you and your dog to use
in the many communities for your walks and they
offer a quieter, safer alternative.
However, walking your dog in a residential neighborhood does
come with one significant hazard. The number of pedestrians in the area can definitely be a drawback, especially if your pup is particularly skittish. Though the area is flat and easy to navigate, you may have to venture out into other neighborhoods to avoid any influx of other families out and about. Otherwise, try to take a trip out to one of the local parks! This may present even more options.
How many greenways are there in Daytona Beach Manor?
Outside of the woodlands around the Daytona Beach Manor, the nearest
park is Buschman Park and the Margaret Buschman Parcel. This green space starts
at the corner of Jackson Street and Spruce Creek Road. Here, you will find a lake full
of fish, a pier to fish from, a trail you and your dog can use to hike around
the lake, nature trails in the woods, and plenty of shade for everyone to relax
in.
There is only one dog park in town, further to the south on Spruce Creek Road. The Seemore Memorial Dog Park measures one full acre and
has sections for small and large dogs and a third section that is just for
dogs who are elderly, injured, or disabled. Each area has a watering station
for the pups, shady benches for owners to sit on, and a doggy rinse station
for rinsing off the dust at the end of the day.
