Wag! Walkers know Falcon Crest
Falcon Crest is a small community of single-family homes on streets with exciting names like Champagne Circle and Burgundy Terrace. The neighborhood sits just off Spruce Creek Road and is close to the local dog park and Rose Bay. The houses here are large and luxurious, sitting on beautifully manicured lots with plenty of shade trees.
Living down here in the southern end of town offers a relatively quiet lifestyle, far enough from the heart of the city to enjoy the peace and quiet, yet close enough for you to find everything you need in just a short drive. This includes groceries, pet supplies, and a great selection of places to take your family out to eat.
Having your home in Falcon Crest also puts you close to amazing green spaces like the beach and the Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve. If you feel like getting out in deep Florida forests, the South Tomoka Wildlife Management Area is only a twenty-five-minute drive to the west.
What is the terrain like in Falcon Crest?
The community of Falcon Crest consists of a loop and one cul-de-sac which helps to make it a peaceful place to live. With so few homes here, even morning and evening rush hours are only slightly busy, but you should still try to avoid walking your dog during these times. The ground is flat and has little to offer beyond lots of sidewalks. The one thing missing is shade! There just aren't that many shade trees running alongside the streets.
While the neighborhood is small, you and your pooch can take your walks further afield to other neighborhoods and communities. There are plenty to choose from and you can choose a different one each day to help keep your strolls with your dog more interesting. For your safety and that of your dog, you should use a short leash that gives you more control, just in case they should become overexcited or startled.
How many greenways are there in Falcon Crest?
Beyond the lake at the east end of the area, the nearest usable green space is the Seemore Memorial Dog Park. It's only a two-minute drive or a ten-minute walk north on Spruce Creek Road. The park is right next door to the All Children's Park and Spruce Creek Road Park. The dog park offers individual fenced-in areas for large and small dogs with water fountains in each to keep the dogs hydrated.
The beach is only a fifteen-minute drive east and has a lot to offer both of you. You can use the soft, dry sand for a challenging walk on the way out, stop take a swim in the waves to cool off, and then take your time strolling back on the firm, wet sand at the edge of the water for some great interval training! The best time of day to go here is in the early morning hours before the beach fills up with cars and tourists.
