Top dog walkers in Krol
Wag! Walkers know Krol
The community of Krol is home to the Coral Bay Villas, a funeral home, and a bank. The community sits along Clyde Morris Boulevard and is at the intersection of Dunlawton Avenue. Beyond the businesses at the intersection, much of the area to the north and south are given to vast residential areas.
Dunlawton Avenue is one of the busiest streets in the city of Port Orange and runs from the Atlantic coast to the intersection with I-95. Once it passes under the interstate, Dunlawton Avenue becomes Taylor Road and leads to the westernmost parts of town. It is also home to a large selection of shops, stores, places to buy pet supplies, and great places to eat.
The one thing missing in the near vicinity is anything in the way of green spaces, including small neighborhood parks. For these, the two of you will have to hop in the car and go for a ride.
What is the terrain like in Krol?
Krol sits on Clyde Morris Boulevard which is a bustling road at any time of day but becomes even more hectic during the morning and evening rush hours. If this isn't bad enough, you also live on the corner of Dunlawton Avenue, the main east-west thoroughfare running through town and home to the majority of retail stores in town. This is an exceptionally busy stretch of road and is not one you should try to walk your dog along for their safety.
The ground here is flat and, if you go north, your walk will take you into residential areas. Here, once the rush hour and school bus traffic is gone, you and your dog should be able to use the sidewalks to extend your walks and keep away from most of the traffic. The only thing missing is shade trees, so your walks are going to be a little on the hot side unless you go out early in the morning.
How many greenways are there in Krol?
To the west is Willow Park next to Horizon Elementary School. It's a small park with a patch of grass to let your dog play on. For more space, a short drive to the south will take you to the 1,600-acre Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve. Inside this nature preserve are swamps, forests, and miles of trails for you and your dog to explore. Keep in mind that this is a very popular place for hikers and dog walkers, so expect it to be crowded if you wait until later in the day to go walking.
Going east will take you to the beaches of Daytona Beach Shores and Wilbur-by-the-Sea. Here, you and your dog can hike for miles in the sand enjoying a good workout. Then you can take a dip in the ocean to cool off. Finally, the two of you can stroll back and keep your feet cool in the surf all the way to your car!
