Wag! Walkers know The Palms At Cypress Head
The Palms at Cypress Head is a residential community inside of
the Cypress Head Golf Course. The homes here are
arranged on Palm Vista Street which starts on Cypress Springs Parkway, forms a shallow
loop, and ends back on Cypress Springs. Like most golf communities, the houses
are tightly packed to ensure maximum per-square-foot usage of the available land.
The neighborhood is surrounded by small lakes
and tracts of woods.
While still part of Port Orange, New Smyrna Beach is almost
as close to you here as the city center. Living on the west side of I-95 means
you have to drive to find the essential amenities your family needs. You can find things like grocery stores, places to buy pet supplies, hardware stores,
and a selection of restaurants and fast-food joints by taking South Williamson Boulevard to the intersection of I-95 and Dunlawton Avenue. You will find even
more of the same further east on Dunlawton!
What is the terrain like in The Palms At Cypress Head?
Living inside of a golf course definitely helps to minimize the amount of traffic you and your
pooch are likely to have to deal with. Keep
in mind, however, that even out here, you
will have some rush hour traffic to deal with in the morning and late afternoon.
Beyond these times, you should only see a limited number of cars and the occasional
golf cart go whizzing by.
Every neighborhood within the bounds of the golf course has
sidewalks for you and your dog to use for your daily walks. The same applies to
the roads running between the various residential areas. The only thing missing
from the sidewalks seems to be much in the way of shade trees. During the hottest
part of the year, you should take your walks together early in the morning before
the temperatures start to climb.
How many greenways are there in The Palms At Cypress Head?
Just because you live inside of a golf course doesn't mean
that you and your dog are welcome on the acres of fairways, in the rough, or on
the greens, as inviting as they might look. However, between the golf course and I-95,
there is a large area of woods that serve as a buffer zone.
You may find trails running through these woods where you
and your dog can walk around in the shade on hot, summer days. On the other side
of I-95 is the start of the Doris Leeper Spruce Creek Preserve. Covering over
1,600 acres of swamps and forest, the preserve offers miles of trails for the
two of you to hike on. There is a 15-foot tall observation tower you can climb
that looks out over the swamps. If you are up for the challenge, you
can take the six-mile round-trip hike to the southern end of the preserve in
New Smyrna Beach.
