Castleberry Hills is located southwest of the central Atlanta business district and is a mixed-use neighborhood with commercial activity and residential buildings. The neighborhood is filled with eateries, cafes, art galleries, and other shops that are easily reachable on foot in this walkable district. Many warehouses in the area have been converted to lofts and residents are near commercial establishments.

Atlanta dog walkers enjoy pleasant walking weather for much of the year with occasional rain showers. Winters have more rain and cooler weather, although snow and sub-freezing temperatures are not common and daytime temperatures usually rise above freezing. During summer months, Atlanta weather is hot and humid, often uncomfortably so for walking your dog in the middle of the day. Avoid the heat by walking early or later in the day, finding shady places to walk and rest, and keeping you and your dog hydrated to avoid heat-related illnesses.

Castleberry Hill is bordered on its west side by Northside Drive with Interstate 20 on the south side, Ted Turner Drive on the east side, and MLK Jr. Drive on the north side. The area is a developed commercial and residential district. Most residences are multi-family or multi-story apartments and condominiums. Warehouses in the neighborhood have also been converted to loft apartments or commercial spaces harboring art galleries and trendy eateries.

There are some gentle inclines in the area, but they are not steep or difficult to climb. Train tracks run through the neighborhood and create a barrier for pedestrians. The area does not have trees or natural landscaping or greenery which means hot pavement can be hard on your dog's paws in the summer. Consider investing in doggie booties to provide paw protection from hot cement. There is lots of traffic and activity in the area to contend with. Fortunately, streets have separate sidewalks for pedestrians.
