East Beverly is part of the larger community area of Beverly, located in the southwest section of Chicago. This community has a large Irish population and the neighborhood is referred to as the 'Village in the City.' The area is highly walkable with trees so thick you can barely make out the buildings from the street for the large trees and bushes in front yards and along boulevards and verges. Many trees are covered with blooms in spring, but take an umbrella to keep dry, as spring is a rainy season in Chicago.

During Chicago's hot, humid summers, the shady streets make walking bearable, and are brilliantly coloured in fall. Winter will require some warm outerwear, as temperatures plummet below freezing. There are some commercial businesses along main thoroughfares such as the east area of 103rd Street and along Vincennes Avenue. Locals can access some local services on foot and enjoy the beautiful park-like community.

This quiet residential neighborhood has mostly single-family homes with large yards, lawns, and trees. There are also some unique multi-story apartments along the western border along Hale Avenue with historic architecture. Train tracks run along the eastern and western borders and must be crossed at pedestrian crossings associated with roadways where signals are present when on foot. You'll want to exercise caution in these busier areas.

A large interstate along the eastern border of the community can be noisy and prohibits foot travel in that direction. The area is flat and most streets are straight and follow a grid pattern so the neighborhood is easy to navigate. You and your dog will love the shady tree-lined streets, grassy verges, and close-knit community that is perfect for strolling around during a hot, humid Chicago summer. Trees and vegetation may also provide some protection from cold winter winds, so you're in a good place for daily strolls.
