At intersections along Lake Park Avenue and 54th through 52nd streets, you'll find a rectangular block of eateries and shops, where the sidewalks can experience more foot traffic than residential areas of Kenwood. Further south, on 47th Street, budget-friendly retail and home improvement stores line the block, sharing the space with bus stops and pedestrians. 

There's no shortage of quiet neighborhood sidewalks to explore as Kenwood is mostly suburban. Walk any border of Kenwood Park and you'll soak in the gorgeous views of historic buildings while the pooch enjoys pattering alongside you. You can also trek a little outside of Kenwood to neighboring Hyde Park and adventure through the Hyde Park-Kenwood Historic District. 

Other than the occasional crack in the sidewalk and minor inclines, you and your pup are sure to enjoy your walks through Kenwood stress-free. Kenwood Park is a heavily-utilized public space for Kenwood residents. The park coordinates a number of kid-centric programs. It's not all education, however. There's space for play on the playground which has a water feature in the summer any number of recreational fields for sports. When the open grassy soccer field isn't being used, it's a great space for a game of fetch!

While central Kenwood may not have numerous parks available, there are several in nearby neighborhoods, one of which is Armstrong Park. Like Kenwood Park, Armstrong features several sports fields and courts, a track, and a playground. 

With Kenwood's eastern border being Lake Michigan, it's likely you and your faithful pet may want to check out some water views. Promontory Point in Burnham Park is a popular destination for those looking to watch some waves. This area also has Grant Park and Jackson Bark, a park specifically designed for dogs, with equipment for them to learn agility sports!
