If you're looking for a dog-friendly beach on Long Island's south fork, you're spoiled for choice. Albert's Landing Beach, a peaceful bay beach in Amagansett, is one of the best.
Also known as Big Albert's Landing, this popular swimming spot sits on the shores of Napeague Bay. The still, quiet waters are the ideal spot for your furry friend to take a refreshing dip, and on a warm day, you'll probably be pretty tempted to join them.
The views of Long Island Sound are spectacular, and there's also plenty of sandy shoreline for you and your pet to explore together. You and your dog can take a leisurely stroll along here looking for seashells, but there's also enough space for energetic dogs to stretch their legs both out of the water and while splashing in the shallows.
There's ample parking available close to the sandy shoreline, but you'll need to have a beach parking pass to avoid a fine. There are facilities provided to help you clean up after your pooch, which is an essential step to take if you want to ensure that the beaches in this gorgeous part of the world remain as dog-friendly as possible.
It's also worth pointing out that off-leash access to the beach is restricted between May and September. If you want your pet to enjoy some off-leash play, make sure to visit early in the morning or after 6 pm, and only let your dog run free when they're at least 300 feet from a paved road end. Restrictions have also been known to change, so make sure you check the state of play with local authorities before you visit.
If you're planning a full day at the beach, you'll find BBQ grills and picnic tables nearby. Why not pack a picnic or prepare a steak for yourself and your dog to enjoy side by side on the sand? Sounds like a paw-fect plan to us!
