Another beautiful Long Island beach that welcomes dogs, Atlantic Avenue Beach offers a whole host of great features for you and your dog to explore. Situated at the end of Atlantic Avenue, just 1.5 miles from downtown Amagansett, this picturesque beach offers natural beauty and handy amenities, but without the over-crowding that you'll find on some stretches of sand.
Popular with families, Atlantic Avenue Beach boasts a relaxed, laidback vibe that this part of the world is famous for. For dog lovers and their furry friends, this gorgeous beach offers ample space and plenty of sand for some off-leash fun. Whether your dog loves running, sniffing, playing or swimming, they'll find plenty of space to do it here. The beach is also backed by a double dune system, which these days is quite rare on Long Island, but is well worth a closer look.
However, when planning your visit, keep in mind that restrictions apply to doggy access during the warmer months. If you're looking for some off-leash fun between May 15th and September 15th, you'll need to hit the beach with your dog before 10 am or after 6 pm. There are no restrictions for the rest of the year, so your pooch can run free whenever they want.
Of course, you'll need to show courtesy to other beachgoers and ensure that your dog is under voice control at all times. There are also doggy bags provided so there's no excuse not to clean up after your canine companion.
Lifeguards are on duty during peak periods, while public restrooms, surf chairs for those with a physical disability, and a concession stand are all available as well. Parking requires a Town Permit, but paid parking is also available from Monday to Friday.
If you're hunting for the paw-fect dog-friendly, Long Island beach, make sure to add this special spot to your shortlist of destinations you need to explore.
