This free-to-enjoy pup beach park features public restrooms, doggie waste bags to go around (in case your forget yours), grassy areas with picnic spots that are ideal (an even better reason not to forget to pick up after your four-legged friend), and plenty of sand and salt for your doggo to enjoy. Your pup is allowed to roam around off-leash once you're sure that he or she is feeling a-okay about the people, sand, salt, sea, and other canine friends. Otherwise, your pup should stay leashed.Â
According to city ordinance, the dogs should stay leashed, however, according to dog beach.org, only dangerous, misbehaving unleashed dogs have been removed from the beach or cited for bad behavior. Another requirement of the dog beach is that you keep your pup licensed and tagged with a collar on. Most of this is for reassurance of being reunited if your pup gets separated from you during your beach adventures. The biggest hard-and-fast rule of this beach park is that you pick up after your pup - leaving used bags in the cliffs or in the sand is prohibited and you will certainly be cited if you're caught doing this. Other than that, you and your well-behaved dog are free to roam the miles of beach, enjoy the ocean water, and share a snack during sunset!
