Getting to Meschutt Beach is a breeze, however, parking can be costly ($18) unless you are a Suffolk County resident or holder of a green keycard, in which case the price is halved and entry is free after 4 pm. Dogs are to remain on-leash at all times once beyond the parking lot. Moreover, your furry pal can dip their paws in the bay water, but swimming is not allowed due to the leash law. Instead of swimming, there are plenty of other amenities offered at Mechutt Beach that you may enjoy with your pup!
In addition to the quaint, sandy shore suitable for walking and exercising with your dog, there is also bird-watching, a kid's playground, picnicking, and the Meschutt Beach Hut food concession. Either bring your own snack for sunset or visit the bar to grab a snack to go and enjoy it with your canine on the nearby picnic area, as dogs are not allowed at the bar.
Although this beach is strictly dog-walking-friendly, many pet owners like to visit during sunset for the sweeping views of the light reflecting off the bay. Remember that this beach is not dog-waste-friendly, so be courteous and pick up any your pup leaves behind. No dog waste bags are provided, nor is there a dog-friendly drinking station, so please bring your own dog supplies and plenty of fresh water. The Meschutt Beach is a pawtastic beach to relax and unwind with your toes buried in the sand!
