This nature preserve is located in the Morningdside-Lenox Park neighborhood of Atlanta, Georgia. Parking can be found at the entrance of the park on Lenox Road NE, where you can unload your pupper from the vehicle and start your adventure. From this point, just getting to the beach is half the fun. There are about 2 miles of trails within the park on either side of the river. The trails are great for running or hiking, and they wind through rolling forest before reaching the dog beach, just 0.5 miles in.Â
After this lovely walk through the forest, your pal will be leaping for joy at the sight of the dog beach. The South Fork Peach Tree River has wide sandy shores that are great for scampering around and roughhousing with the other doggos. Your pup can run, rinse, and repeat all day. The water is shallow and safe for pups of all sizes. The beach is found underneath a beautiful wooden suspension bridge that arcs over the creek. There are plenty of creatures who make this creek their home, including turtles, fish, birds, and beavers.Â
Although many pet parents take their dogs off-leash here, it's not considered a designated off-leash dog park. If you choose to unleash your dog here, you're at risk of being fined. Please bring along some waste bags and be sure to always pick up after your pal.Â
The Morningside Nature Preserve Dog Beach is a green oasis, and sure to be a puppy pleaser!Â
