Park Point Beach

Itching to get in some sun and lake fun in Duluth with your pup? Head over to Minnesota Point just below the Aerial Lift Bridge, and drive on down to Park Point Beach! With gorgeous panoramic views of Duluth and Lake Superior, Park Point Beach is located on a sandbar that protects the harbor. Stretching for 6 miles along the eastern side of the sandbar, this public beach has all the dogs barking! 

While you can access the beach in several locations, many families head to the Park Point Recreation Area which features several walkways to the sand and water. This puptastic spot offers plenty of parking areas, picnic tables, pavilions and grills, boat launches, and even sand volleyball courts. A public Beach House is on site too, which can be rented for weddings or occasions, and also offers restrooms for the humans in your pack. Sorry, no pups allowed inside. 

In the summer, lifeguards man the beach, and the conditions of the lake are constantly updated for swimmer safety, so be on the lookout for warning signs or closures. Your pup can walk the beach, splash in the water or take in some sun with you while watching the boats and birds go by, so long as they are leashed at all times. Don't furget to bring clean-up bags, and always pick up after your pup. Bring enough water to share with your pooch, and some snacks, and there's even concessions available during warmer seasons. And if you've got an adventurous doggo, take out a boat or canoe, or hike one of the trails, just beware of poison ivy.
