The sandy beach is rocky in many parts, so do beware of sensitive feet and paws, especially if going in the water. Pups are welcome to run along the shore, bask in the sun, and splash in the waves with you. A picnic area and pergola are on site for a lovely outdoor meal or snack, and there's also a playground for the little two-leggeds in your clan. Human restrooms are conveniently located near the parking areas, and right on the beach, and water fountains are available too. Bring a bowl for your dog! There's even some trails above the beach for your canine hiker, accessible right from the parking areas.
Best of all, this beach is an off-leash area from November 1st to March 15th! That's right- during these months, your dog can romp in the sand and sun with you without a leash! However, in the busy season from March 16th to October 31st, your dog needs to stay leashed on the beach, even in the water. During off leash times, do be aware that the area isn't fenced, so be sure your dog is good under voice command.
Since this beach sits outside of Seattle, it tends to be a bit less crowded. For those interested in art, Richmond Beach Saltwater Park Off-Leash Dog Area plays host to both permanent outdoor art pieces, as well as indoor exhibits which are rotated frequently to showcase the talents of both local and international artists.
Bring all the beach essentials for a fun and safe day out, including clean-up bags, and always pick up whatever your pup leaves behind. Trash cans are located near the restrooms. There are not many shady areas on the beach due to the lack of trees, so you may also want to bring an umbrella if it is sunny day.
The sand, water, and mountain views of the Richmond Beach Saltwater Park make for a peaceful and scenic place to spend a day at the beach with your dog. Check it out today!
