This public beach is a popular place for families looking to relax and have some fun. Many people also head here with their pooches for some fun and adventure during the summer months. Dogs are allowed at the beach between the beginning of May through to the start of October, which means that you can enjoy taking your pet for some summer fun and fresh sea-air. You do need to make sure that your dog is on its leash at all times when you visit this beach.Â
There are plenty of amenities and facilities you can access when you come to Southold Town Beach, making it a great place to bring the whole family in addition to your dog. Many exciting recreational activities can be enjoyed here such as kayaking, fishing, and swimming. Alternatively, you can simply enjoy relaxing on the sands and soaking up some sunshine while reading a book or people watching.Â
There are designated picnic areas here, too, so if you want to bring your pooch and your family along for a pleasant afternoon lunch at the beach, there are plenty of areas available. Do bear in mind that there is no alcohol allowed here, so take plenty of soft drinks and water along. For the little ones, there is a playground area so you can keep them entertained and occupied during your time at the beach. If you plan to drive, there is paid parking close by and there are also lifeguards on duty at this beach. For those with mobility problems, it does offer disabled accessible areas.Â
While at Southold Town Beach, make sure you check out Whale Rock, a rock that protrudes from the Long Island Sound, which is close to the beach. The rock resembles a whale, hence the name, and is an unusual and distinctive landmark in the area.Â
