Southwick Beach State Park

Southwick Beach State Park is a great place to spend a portion of your summer. Whether it's just for the day or for an extended stay, Southwick Beach is the perfect place for you and your pup. The Beach itself is located within the State Park, which offers camping sites where you, your pup, and your camper or tent can spend the summer on the beach and under the stars! Campers and day-time visitors alike can enjoy picnicking, hiking, and games, and the beach even "adjacent to the Lakeview Wildlife Management Area, [which is] home to environmentally-sensitive coastal sand dunes."

The beach has a ton of cafes and shops, where you can eat, drink, and be merry with your furry BFF. If you're more the adventuring type, all along the shore, you can find places to rent jet-skis, powerboats, sailboats, canoes, and kayaks. There's even a boat launch near the beach if you have a boat you and your pup like to spend the day on that you brought with you! 

Swimming is allowed everywhere along the shore, and you don't have to worry too much about riptides since Southwick Beach is along Lake Ontario. That does mean, however, that you may have to worry a little bit about the cold water! Additionally, the water off the beach is known for being pretty shallow, so if you or your pup aren't a great swimmer, you don't have much to worry about. 

So long as you bring proof that your woofer has gotten all their shots, beachfront camping is allowed for all. If you're just there for the day, bring your leash, your pup, and the expectancy to have a great time! No matter your reason for visiting Southwick, nor how long you stay there, you and your pooch will have a great time on this beach, and will definitely wind up coming back for more!
