If you have kids, this beach is very kid-friendly with an interactive spray park and playground for the little ones! There are lifeguards on duty during the open hours on Tanner Park Beach as well. Plan a fun day of fishing and take advantage of the private fishing pier that Tanner Park has to offer.
Another amenity you should utilize is the Tavern Park Pavilion. This has shaded areas for you, your family, and your pup to cool off and take a break from the hot, blistering summer sun. Also under this pavilion, or "beach hut" as the locals call it, there are mini-concerts held weekly!
There are also picnic tables for you to eat some food and relax. Beyond the pavilion, there's not much shade though, so make sure to bring some water for your fur baby and yourself so that you stay hydrated and cool.
Tanner Park has bathroom facilities and showers, so you can just enjoy getting all sandy and sun-soaked and don't have to worry about getting back into your cars with remnants from the fun-filled day.
Tanner Park has an on-leash only policy for your doggos, so it's important to be mindful of that while spending time there. There are also no poop bags provided, so bring some and pick up after your pup so that this beach can remain clean and welcoming!
As this is a Resident Only Beach and in order to enter, you must have a Resident Recreation Permit. Resident Recreation Permits cost $45 and can be purchased at the Parks Department, Phelps Lane, North Babylon, Cedar Beach Marina, Ocean Parkway, or Tanner Park, Kerrigan Rd., Copiague, depending on the time of year.
In order to obtain this pass, you need to bring to one of these locations two proofs of residency and your vehicle registration.
