As a city in a landlocked state, Albuquerque probably isn't the first place that springs to mind when you're thinking of dog-friendly beaches. But that doesn't mean you can't find any beaches where your dog is welcome to join you for some sunshine and fresh air, and Tingley Beach is the paw-fect proof of that fact.
Located adjacent to the Rio Grande Bosque and just minutes from downtown Albuquerque, this beautiful beach allows leashed dogs the ideal opportunity to enjoy some time in the great outdoors with their owners. The area referred to as Tingley Beach is actually made up of three fishing ponds that the public can access free of charge. There's no swimming allowed in the ponds, however, so if your dog wants to cool off in the summer you'll need to take them elsewhere.
But if your dog doesn't mind the fact that they can't get wet, there's plenty more for them to see and do in this lovely park. There are several easy walking trails that wind their way around the ponds, providing a tranquil spot for you and your pooch to get some exercise. If you'd prefer to just sit back and relax, you can enjoy the scenic water views or maybe keep an eye out for the many varieties of waterfowl that call the ponds home. Picnic tables are also provided, so pack some lunch or snacks for yourself and your canine friend.
However you decide to spend your time at Tingley Beach, make sure that your pet is leashed and on their best behavior. Of course, you'll also need to clean up after your pet and responsibly dispose of their waste.
Tingley Beach is a lovely, little dog-friendly location that's well worth a look. Treat your pooch to a day out here and they're sure to want to return again and again.
