Town Of Hanover Beach

On the western portion of north New York lies the little town of Hanover. Though it carries the moniker of Irving in its addresses, Hanover offers lots to visitors, including lodging, furbulous eateries and the beach!

Hanover Town Beach lies on the upper eastern corner of Lake Erie, right off of South Shore Drive. This beach is sandy and blue, and gives visitors a number of opportunities to enjoy the natural, laidback environment throughout the summer months. Make sure you bring appropriate shoes, as the terrain around Lake Erie tends to get a bit rough, and can often favor small pebbles to sand. Your pup is allowed to romp on the beach and splash in the water with you, so long as they stay on leash at all times. 

Some beachgoers like to grill burgers and hotdogs on the charcoal grills with family and friends under the available pavilions, have picnics on the beach, and monkey around the playground. There's also a pier, boat dock, and kayak rentals available for those willing to pay a small rental fee. If that didn't catch your interest, there are a number of easy walking/hiking trails along the beach and down along the pier. And since this sandy sanctuary faces west, the sun sets right over the water. What more could you ask for!? 

This beach is family friendly, and offers a full-time life guard. Gather up the gang, because this beach is freely available to the public, and includes public parking! A large lot is available right where South Shore Drive meets Shady Lane, near the Sunset Bay Beach Club. Keep in mind that parking may be limited depending on the time of year and time of day you are visiting. 

Be sure to bring all your beach essentials including water to share with your doggo, snacks, and clean-up bags. Always stoop and scoop and help keep this beach clean. Trash cans are located throughout the beach area for your convenience.
