Description

If you like the sound of spending a few relaxing nights at a wooded campsite with water views and doing it all with your dog by your side, Burnham Point State Park is worth checking out. This New York state park sits on the banks of the St. Lawrence River and offers pet-friendly camping in a peaceful, leafy setting.

The campground features 44 sites for tents and RVs, with hot showers, flush toilets and dump stations all provided. The campsites, particularly those tent sites right on the water, provide impressive views out over the river, but be aware that this can be quite a popular spot at the height of summer.

Please note that while the campground is open from May through September, some sites may open later or be closed earlier. A $6 entry fee applies for day-use visitors to the park, while camping costs vary from $15 to $29 per night. Previous visitors recommend reserving your spot in advance to ensure you get the site you want.

Dogs are welcome in the Burnham Point State Park campground. However, there is a two-pet maximum per site, and dogs must be leashed and cleaned up after at all times. They're also not allowed in picnic areas, and you must provide proof of their current rabies vaccination.

Once you've arrived at Burnham Point State Park, it's entirely up to you how to choose to spend your time. Many visitors like to take a boat out on the water -- boat launch sites and docks are provided in the park, making it an excellent base to explore the local towns, historic sites, and islands found along this part of the river. Cedar Point State Park, another lovely riverfront camping spot, is also just five miles away.

Other features include picnic tables, a playground, and excellent fishing, with anglers able to target bass, pike, muskellunge, and more. However, aside from the playground, there are limited facilities to keep younger kids entertained, so families might prefer to stay elsewhere.

But if you're searching for a quiet and relaxing camping spot, Burnham Point State Park could be the pawfect destination!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
