Description

Head to Ithaca, NY, with your pooch by your side and discover all that Buttermilk Falls State Park has to offer. This park has more than just scenic falls to view -- there's fun for everyone in the family, with the creek, small lake, waterfall pools, and ample forest to explore!

You'll find 18 cabins and 25 campsites at the Buttermilk campground, all with access to grills and picnic tables. Some of the sites do offer hookups, so reserve ahead if you want to ensure you have a power source. Drinking water is on-site along with a dump station for RVs and trash receptacles. A comfort station will make daily needs a little more homelike, though the facilities are a bit dated and can be messy during busy times of the season. Keep in mind that you can hear the main road traffic from most of the campsites.

The falls themselves make for tons of fun for all visitors to the park. In the peak season, you'll be allowed to swim in the many pools that fill from the gentle falls. Extreme campers may even dare to jump down into the water, but this should be done cautiously as the rocks can be dangerous to climb up. Anglers can try their luck casting lines in the creeks that make up the waterfall, while hikers and bird watchers can get their fill of the beautiful natural surroundings of this area.

To enter the park, you'll need to bring along your woofer's proof of vaccination and pay an $8 vehicle entry fee. All four-legged visitors need to be on a 6-foot leash at all times, and they are not allowed to go swimming in the designated bathing areas. It's also always a good idea to bring poop bags along and clean up all of your dog's waste throughout your stay.

If you love checking out waterfalls and are in New York State, be sure to stop by Buttermilk Falls State Park for a night or two!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
