Description

Boasting rustic beauty and a peaceful waterfront setting, Dewolf Point State Park is a quiet and relaxed campground in upstate New York. And with pet-friendly cabins and campsites overlooking the Lake of the Isles on the St. Lawrence River, it's well worth a visit for any dog lover planning a scenic getaway.

The park's headline attraction is its easy water access. It offers boat dockage on the Lake of the Isles and a boat launching ramp for those who want to get out on the water. Whether you want to try your hand at fishing, take a leisurely paddle on a kayak, or just explore some of the best scenery the Thousand Islands region has to offer, you'll be well catered for here.

If you'd like to explore fur-ther afield, several other great state parks -- including Wellesley Island, Canoe-Picnic Point, and Grass Point -- can be found close by.

Dewolf Point's accessible campground offers some impressive views out over the Lake of the Isles, along with flush toilets, showers, and a mixture of accommodation options. Open from mid-May until mid-September, Dewolf Point State Park features 14 pet-friendly cabins along with 14 pet-friendly campsites for tents, trailers, and RVs.

A $6 vehicle entry fee applies for day-use visitors to the park, with campsites ranging from $15 to $19 a night (plus a $5 nightly surcharge for out-of-state visitors). Cabins are $66.50 a night, with a $7 nightly surcharge for non-New York state residents.

Pets will need to be leashed and cleaned up after at all times, and there's a two-pet maximum per site. You'll also need to provide proof of your dog's current rabies inoculation, and we'd recommend practicing caution with your pooch when anywhere near some of the steep bluffs overlooking the water.

Covering just 13 acres, Dewolf Point State Park may only be a fairly small park. However, this makes it a paw-some destination for anyone looking for some peace and quiet. And if you're searching for more attractions to explore and facilities to use, all campers at Dewolf State Park enjoy free access to Wellesley Island State Park.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
