Description

If you're looking for a campsite to take your pooch along with you to visit, then Dog Creek Campground in Cub Run, Southern Kentucky is the place for you! The site is situated along the breathtaking shores of Nolin River Lake, giving you and your pooch direct access to the shoreline all hours of the day. The lake itself is more than 5000 acres in size, attracting a large flock of tourists each year.

In total, there are 70 campsites available at the campground, located along the shoreline. These sites you won't forget as they are perfectly situated to catch views of amazing sunsets over the water. Of the 70 available sites, 24 of them have water and electricity hookups for you and your pooch's convenience.

Once inside the campground, you and your pup are free to stroll the common area, as long as your pooch remains on-leash. Here, you can enjoy watching children play at the playground, or walk along the shoreline where you are bound to meet fishermen looking to catch the assortment of fish in the lake, including catfish and bass. You will most likely also find other campers admiring the wildlife from the designated lookout area located close to the lake.

If you're feeling up for the challenge, you and your pooch are more than welcome to venture to Mammoth Cave National Park, only a short ferry ride away, where you can enjoy miles of dog-friendly trails. Dogs are permitted in the park, but they are not allowed in the caves located within. One noteworthy hiking trail you may want to check out is Shady Creek Trail, where you and your pooch will be greeted with wildflowers and thick forest paths.

Back on the campground, if you're up for taking an adventure on the water, there are a variety of boat rental locations around the lake, as well as boat ramps for campers to use at their convenience. After spending a long day venturing the outdoors, feel free to take a refreshing dip in the lake. You're also welcome to enjoy the public shower and washroom stations that offer flushable toilets and running warm water.

So, if you do find yourself in the Cub Run area, do stop in and treat pup to an overnight stay the scenic, pet-friendly Dog Creek Campground.
