Hazelton Recreation Area sits on the Missouri River's east bank on Lake Oahe, which means that it not only offers excellent water views but also easy access to a host of water sports. This massive lake is some 231 miles long and draws visitors from far and wide.

During your stay in Hazelton Recreation Area, you might like to go fishing to target the many species of fish that call the lake home, including walleye, pike, and yellow perch. A boat ramp and accessible boat dock are provided, with water skiing and a variety of other types of boating are all popular pastimes. And during the summer months, it's the ideal spot to take a refreshing dip and cool off.

The Hazelton Recreation Area campground features 18 primitive sites and 12 sites with 50-amp electrical hookups. Picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets are provided, but there are no showers. A playground is also available to keep younger visitors entertained. A non-electric site will set you back $12 a night, while electric sites cost $16 per night.

Pets are welcome in the campground, provided they're leashed and under control at all times. As always, it's essential that you take care to clean up after your pet and properly dispose of their waste.
