Looking for a waterfront campground where you can enjoy a relaxing getaway with your furry friend? Look no further than Lake Dennison Recreation Area, which is located in the town of Winchendon, Massachusetts.
Dogs are more than welcome to join you in this beautiful, lakefront park, provided that your pet is always kept on a leash of six feet or less. You'll also need to follow any other signposted rules and remember to clean up after your dog whenever necessary.
With the formalities aside, you and your pooch can start exploring the best this picturesque destination has to offer. Unsurprisingly, many of the recreational activities on offer in the Lake Dennison Recreation Area center are on the lake itself. There's a public swimming beach for those looking to cool off, while fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and non-motorized boating are all popular pastimes. Of course, if you're looking to just enjoy a peaceful picnic in the sun or shade, there are plenty of lakeside spots where you can do exactly that.
Away from the water, mountain bikers can enjoy easy access to more than 50 miles of trails. Horseback riding, hunting, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling are also enjoyed by visitors at different times of the year.
If you and your dog want to stay for a few nights or even more, there are 150 wooded campsites overlooking the lake. Pets are permitted on campsites, with many sites located just a stone's throw from the water's edge. Restrooms, showers, and grills are all provided.
Lake Dennison Beach is open from late May until early September, and parking is $8 for Massachusetts residents and $15 for non-residents. Campsites are $17 per night for residents and $27 per night for non-residents.
If you're ever in this lovely part of the world and searching for a pet-friendly nature escape, Lake Dennison Recreation Area is well worth a visit.
