Located on the banks of the San Marcos River approximately 40 miles south of Austin, Texas, Leisure Resort RV Park offers a family-friendly campground where pets are more than welcome.
Tucked away in a 150-year-old pecan orchard, Leisure Resort offers a total of 117 sites and can accommodate tents and RVs. Primitive tent sites back onto the river, offering a lovely outlook, while there are more than 50 full hookup sites available. A number of other sites offer electricity and water, and there are pull-through and back-in options available.
Some sites are a little cramped, so it's recommended that you choose a concrete pad site if you want a little extra room. The restrooms are clean but also a little small, and there's Wi-Fi available if needed.
One of the biggest attractions of Leisure Resort RV Park is that it offers a host of recreational activities. Its location right on the river means many visitors love to go tubing -- launching upstream and floating back down to the park is particularly relaxing -- while fishing is available nearby.
There are also plenty of recreational facilities on offer to keep campers of all ages happy. Highlights include a pool, mini golf, kids' playground, sand volleyball court, basketball court, and horseshoe pit. There's a clubhouse with a TV and projector system, plus a short nature trail that runs along the river.
Happily, dogs are allowed in the campground, provided they're accompanied by an adult and on a leash of six feet or shorter at all times. There's a fenced pet area where your pooch can stretch their legs and go to the bathroom, and they can access the river from the nature trail.
However, please note that pets aren't allowed in the park's main swimming area, nor are they permitted in the pool, clubhouse, restrooms, playground, or the park's rental cabins.
Rates at Leisure Resort RV Park start from $32 a night for primitive tent camping and go up to $47 for a back-in site. Holiday rates apply on Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day weekends and add $10 to the nightly charge.
If you're planning a family-friendly camping weekend somewhere easily accessible from either Austin or San Antonio, Leisure Resort RV Park is well worth a look. It also hosts several events throughout the year, from chili cook-offs to Halloween fun, so check the park's events calendar when planning your visit.
