New York has high-rises, Times Square, and a population close to nine million people that look forward to vacation time and heading to hidden gem campgrounds like Oakland Valley that sits by the Neversink River. Picture a landscape of old oak trees with leaves on the ground and the sound of birds and water flowing by. This could be paradise if you pitch a tent by the river or choose a glamper site where the dĂ©cor is chic including romantic lighting, an air mattress, plus a mini-fridge if you wish.Â
If you’re heading to Oak Valley in your RV with the family and dog, you’ll be happy to know the campground is pet-friendly with a few basic rules. Pooches should have their vaccination records up-to-date and ready to be checked on arrival. They will be required to stay on-leash at all times. Camp buildings and the pool area are off-limits to woofers and it's expected owners pick up their waste. It will cost you an extra $5 to bring your dog and there are breed restrictions.
RVs can be hooked up to water, electricity (20/30 amp), and sewer, allowing you camp in a woodland wonderland There’s an option to stay in a comfy cabin with homely features including a bathroom and kitchen set-up. Most campsites are gravel/dirt and well shaded.
Get set for fun activities with a swimming pool, kid’s playground, horseshoes, and fishing by the river. A games room offers indoor entertainment with billiards and a video arcade, or you could go hiking and tubing in the river. The happy hosts feature movie nights and plenty of fun things to do. Oakland Valley Campground has around 40 sites with clean restrooms, showers, picnic tables, and fire-rings. A convenient camp store offers general supplies and fishing gear.
Two miles out of the camp and you’re in the scenic town of Cuddebackville, part of popular Orange County. Visit the heritage Neversink Valley Museum to learn more about the area or check out acres of cool hiking trails in the Neversink Preserve.
