Description

Looking for a pet-friendly camping spot that not only allows you to get back to nature, but that's also easily accessible from New York City or New Jersey? Oquaga Creek State Park, located in New York's Broome, Delaware and Chenango Counties, is well worth checking out.

This relaxed and peaceful park offers the perfect spot for a summer escape. With no traffic, no crowds, and no wifi, it's somewhere you can slow things down a little and enjoy life at your own pace.

For many visitors to Oquaga Creek State Park, the main highlight is the 55-acre Arctic Lake. This features a sand beach for swimmers and is popular for those looking to cool off in the summer heat. It's also home to black bass, bullheads, and rainbow trout, so keen anglers can try their luck and see what's biting.

Away from the water, there are multiple hiking trails to explore, ideal terrain for cross-country skiing and winter sledding, and 90 forested campsites. A $7 entry fee applies if you want to use the park's facilities. Pets are permitted in the campground, and there are also seven pet-friendly cabins available for those who don't feel like "ruffing" it.

If you're camping with your pet in Oquaga Creek State Park, make sure that your pet is always on a leash of six feet or shorter and is attended to at all times. Pets are not permitted in bathing areas, and you'll also need to take care to clean up after your dog whenever the need arises.

Apart from that, the only thing that's left to do is enjoy yourself. Oquaga Creek State Park offers something for everyone who likes spending quality time with their pooch in the great outdoors. And because it's located just three hours from New York City and New Jersey, it's the pawfect destination for city slickers looking to escape the concrete jungle and get back to nature.
