Located in Saugerties, New York, Rip Van Winkle Campgrounds is a popular spot that offers a lovely getaway from the daily stress and routine of life. The grounds are divided into several specific areas; visitors can choose to stay at The Ledges, the River’s Edge, or Lover’s Lane, each section offering a unique experience. The River’s Edge area has access to Plattekill Creek and is a popular spot for fishing. Lover’s Lane is a tent-only, couples-only area of the park, perfect for making sweet summer memories. The Ledges, located in the middle of the camp, helps visitors unwind and forget about the rest of the world.
The campground is large and offers over 170 shaded, private, and spacious sites nestled between the lush greenery of the pristine forest. You can choose between seasonal and all-weather sites. There are 100 full hook-up sites available, with 50amps max. Pull-thru sites support big rigs up to 75 ft long, while back-ins support up to 60 ft long vehicles. Each site comes with a fire ring and table.

It’s a pet-friendly site with a dedicated pet area. Your dog will also need to have a tag with their name and your phone number in order to use the facilities.Â
While on the camping grounds, your dog will have to be on their best behaviour – no excessive barking or disturbing others is allowed. You will also have keep them on a leash at all times. Bring all pet supplies that you need and make sure to pick up after your dog.
