The sun shines brightly in Florida, making it a top summer destination for campers escaping the city. Rodman Campground fulfills a promise of serene surroundings with a reservoir noted as one of the best fishing spots in the state.
The camp boasts 60 or more RV, trailer, and tent sites in a superbly maintained setting with level grass lawns and an abundance of pine trees for shade. Many of the gravel sites are a breeze for RVs to drive right in with partial electric (30 - 50 amp) and water hook-ups. Each site is gifted with a table and fire-ring/grill. There are also covered picnic tables by the boat ramp.
Paved roads lined with trees lead into the camp where sites are arranged in a spacious, orderly fashion for a comfortable stay in nature. The setting is magical with the reservoir providing scenic peace and a chance to catch fish for the campfire.
Rodman Campground has clean restrooms, hot showers, and a laundry, plus there is a sewage dump station close to the entrance. If you want to bring your dog, the camp has a āpets welcomeā policy. Your pooch must stay on a leash no longer than six feet in length and be on their best doggy behavior. Owners are expected to pick up their woofer's waste and never leave them tied up alone for more than 30 minutes. Camp buildings and water areas are off-limits to dogs as the Rodman Dam Reservoir is home to wildlife including alligators.
Friendly staff and park rangers are on board, plus you can purchase firewood at the camp which offers a peaceful ambiance having no busy roads nearby. Hiking trails provide an opportunity to explore the area and it's a 15-minute drive to the lively city of Palatka where you can fuel up, grab groceries, or take time to view the captivating copper statues of doughboys and a sailor from World War 1 that stand on either end of the Palatka Memorial bridge.
