Covering almost 2,000 acres on the lake's eastern shore, the park is understandably a hotspot for anyone who enjoys getting out on the water. Fishing and boating are the two most popular activities, and the park's marina has just over 100 boat slips and a large multiple launch site. There's also a sandy beach with guarded swimming on offer, but take note that your pooch won't be able to join you in this area of the park.

When you're ready to set up camp, the park's campground has a total of 309 campsites with 245 electric and 64 non-electric sites. All the essential comforts are provided on site so you won't have to worry about "ruffing it".

Pets are permitted in Sampson State Park and its campground, but you'll need to stick to park rules concerning dogs at all times. These include keeping your pooch on a leash of six feet or shorter and remembering to clean up after your dog and dispose of their waste whenever necessary. Note that you will need to provide proof of your pup's up-to-date rabies vaccination.
