Westlake RV Resort has an idyllic setting right next to a glistening lake, opening the door for keen anglers to test their fishing skills. The welcome mat is permanently out as RVs roll onto a cozy, concrete site with views of the lake and a grass strip on either side. Here, campers can experience the luxury of waterfront living with pull-through access and full hook-ups to electricity (30/50 amp), sewer, and water. Daily rates start at $48.

Don’t own an RV? No problem! The resort has an array of deluxe rentals and fully furnished cabins and cottages along with great amenities, including modern restrooms, showers, and a laundry facility. The daily rate to hire an RV or classy cabin is between $86 and $149.

Cool off in the ornate swimming pool that lights up at night, highlighting the palm trees and tropical theme. Relax in the hot tub or get active with a workout in the rec room that also features free coffee and a pool table. Kids can enjoy a super cool playground while Mom and Dad play shuffleboard.

If you work online or want to keep in touch with far away friends, wifi and cable TV are available on all sites. If you left your laptop at home, check your emails in the conference area, where separate booths add privacy between computers. There's also a printer and fax machine in the conference room.

This is a pet-friendly park with an on-leash rule for dogs. Pups can kick up their paws in the off-leash dog park on-site. Owners are expected to pick up their woofers' waste, and it’s wise to bring a pile of doggy bags. A dog wash station is a pleasant surprise and a pawesome amenity.

The resort offers security gates, making it a safe and quiet oasis for snow birders, long-termers, and travelers visiting Houston. A 30-minute drive is all it takes to discover the Texas city where NASA Space Center is located. Take the kids to the Cockrell Butterfly Center and enter a  tropical rainforest complete with waterfalls and butterflies. You can't leave this city without a visit to the Houston Zoo, a refuge for wild animals.
